The entry into force of the Digital ECA (Law No. 15,211/2025) and the publication of Decree No. 12,880/2026, in March 2026, introduced concrete obligations for companies offering digital products and services accessible to children and adolescents.
One of the central aspects of the regulation is the implementation of effective age assurance mechanisms capable of identifying whether a user is a minor or an adult. Choosing an effective solution requires an analysis that, beyond technical aspects, must also consider business impacts, user acceptance, and regulatory risks.
With these considerations in mind, we have published a new material on the subject, covering:
→ The main age assurance mechanisms currently available (self-declaration, document verification, biometrics, digital credentials, and others);
→ The proportionality, minimization, and governance criteria that should guide this choice;
→ A practical guide for evaluating mechanisms and the next steps for companies.
The material was prepared to support companies in defining strategies aligned with the requirements of the Digital ECA, considering legal, regulatory, and operational aspects.
